Buying, selling, and brokering domain names are the most common aspects of the domain industry, with the first two being where most investors likely invest their time.

However, one of the more and most daunting aspects of the domain industry is developing domains into full-fledge, thriving businesses. This feat is very much like pulling a rabbit out of a hat, to say the least.

When we remember 2020, the world will certainly not forget the one thing that scoured and traveled to the ends of the earth: COVID-19.

It has voraciously snuffed out hundreds of thousands of lives and counting — young, old, and everyone in between.

Now into the tens of millions and counting, COVID-19, also known as the novel coronavirus, has ravaged the lives of many now finding themselves jobless, all sources of income and savings barren.

To add injury to insult, life and disability insurance, retirement, and health benefits have all evaporated for some into the land of furlough and others in the the land of never returning.

But for all that find themselves having to pull up on the ol’ boot straps, today’s podcast guest and the company she leads just might be the break you’re so desperately needing to catch.

Individuals often enter the world of domain investing in hopes of becoming the industry’s next “rags to riches” story or at least making enough money to have made it worth their time.

Today’s podcast guest was introduced to domain investing a few years back through DomainX — a domain investing conference based in India.

There are not many domain investors or domain developers that have been around since the wee early days of the internet.

While the number of stories about buying and flipping domains are the ones all domain investors hope and long to achieve, there’s yet another avenue of stories centered on domain development making their way to the light.

In general, domain investing is not for the faint of heart. That being stated, domain development is easily categorized as challenging by a multiplier of 10, to say the least.

A few months ago, I received an interesting email alert that contained a link to an article, Domain prices are unregulated and rising at an alarming rate, about how the days of enjoying reasonably priced domain names may be coming to an end.

Always intrigued by anything pertain to domain names in general, this article’s title got me to click hook, line, and sinker.

If you were to peruse the list of domains owned by today’s guest, then you would likely conclude this individual is well on their way to becoming a “living legend” domain developer, if not already there in some aspects.

Having met today’s guest, Peter Askew, at Rick’s Asheville Meetup, he’s not short on life or domaining experience nor height, likely being one of the tallest, if not the tallest, domain investors and developers in the industry.

Almost a full decade since the “new gTLDs”, now simply referred to as gTLDs, have made their dubious debut in promising to offer exponentially more domain options than that of saturated legacy domain extensions — so some think.

While many arguments have been made for and against the release of gTLDs, there have been just as many cases made for and against investing and developing the same domain extensions.
