It’s been 2 years since I last attended NamesCon out in Las Vegas at the Tropicana.

Fast forward two years, and tick tock goes the clock as we count the weeks, days, and hours until NamesCon 2020 arrives here in my backyard, the growing metropolis of Austin, Texas.

There is a bit of everything under the sun here in Austin — the college boomtown known for TRAFFIC, LONGHORNS, tech, music, festivals, food, and sprawling fun for days that covers every square inch of Downtown Austin, from one block to the next.

Nevertheless, 1,000+ persons, not including locals, will descend upon Austin to connect and re-connect at the world’s biggest domain economic forum: NamesCon Global.

While there is much to anticipate and look forward to during this jam-packed 4 days of everything domains and more, below are a few sessions I’m keen to attend and learn from:

STAR Labs, also known as Samsung Technology & Advanced Research Labs, launched a mysterious product just weeks away from CES 2020 called NEON.

When a person or business brand ceases to exist, whatever the case may be, one of the most overlooked items is the very domain name in which the brand developed its digital presence.

Investing in domain names for over a decade now, other domain investors and I often find one person’s or business’ domain trash quite the domain treasure. Why?

A few years ago, I was inundated by customer calls, emails, and web inquiries on a daily basis. Most inquiries centered around solving a number of technical challenges and dreams pertaining to WordPress.

From dynamic sidebars to popups and modals to integrating with MailChimp and many more, I often found myself in search of sent emails and previous digital notes I shared with customers containing solutions or possible avenues of functionality to consider.

This approach works well when you’re a one-man shop with a handful of inquiries in a given week.  Not so much when you go with 2 or more employees and a growing customer base. This type of hunt-and-find-an-answer approach simply doesn’t scale.

Operating multiple WordPress sites for a variety of different businesses and disciplines, I finally hit my limit and was forced to address the inefficiency of fielding a snowballing number of inquiries.

Timing is everything, especially when aiming for profitable domain investing and domain development. Now imagine being a stay-at-home dad that stumbled upon search marketing circa 2002.

The domain industry is long littered with stories of domain investors entering and quickly flipping their way to profitable success.

Domain investing, specifically quick flipping, to profitable success in short order shouldn’t be dismissed. However, the more puzzling and challenging feat to achieve and sustain is multi-million dollar domain development.

Of all the many questions posed on a weekly basis by various prospects and customers with WordPress websites, the question of how difficult it is to create a popup, modal, or content overlay is quite frequent.

Many are focused on their line of business and not so much on the technical experts of the ins and outs of their website. That said, the creation of popups, modals, and content overlays in WordPress might as well be rocket science.

And although it’s not my first time around the block providing this type of WordPress solution for those that desire functionality for their website, I’ll share with you two WordPress plugins I’ve started using on more and more projects.
