Emojicon Aims to Celebrate All Things Emoji. 🎉
About a month or so ago, it was brought to my attention by Page Howe that a conference dedicated to “all things emoji” would occur in New York just days before World Emoji Day.
A bit more sleuthing, and I uncovered what looks to be a 2-year-old conference certainly flying stealth under the radar.
Launched in early November 2016 at Westfield Mall’s Bespoke in San Francisco, Emojicon brought together nearly 1,000 global professionals and hobbyists who live, eat, and breathe emoji in some shape, form, or fashion as a part of their daily life.
This 3-day event explored emoji’s cultural and technical worlds through the categorizations of Film, Hack, Learn and Play.
I don’t know if it was by design or if the stars didn’t align for some reason or another, or for whatever reason. Still, I didn’t find one mention of Emojicon 2017 after what most would deem a successful inaugural 2016 conference.
Nevertheless, Emojicon is roaring back to “Celebrate All Things Emoji” this coming Saturday in New York at The Bell House.
Although Emojicon BK 2018 won’t be multiple days, it’s a single day jam-packed with engaging conversations on varying topics — the future of emoji and visual communication, politics, globalization, and digital communication — featuring multidisciplinary thinkers and experts from around the world.
Had I known about it earlier — no fault to anyone, I may have thrown a hat in the ring to travel and discuss the impact emoji may have on domains and the domain industry since 2016.
And if you didn’t know, emoji domains are real and very likely to find a home amongst forward-thinking corporate and personal brands to transform digital marketing forever.
But that’s another topic for another day. As for Emojicon BK 2018 and its emoji-filled day of events, you’ll want to mark your calendar to register and attend an expansive conference on Saturday, July 14th, especially if you’re in New York. Ticket prices are between $15 – $200 per attendee.

Good luck to those attending, and I hope to attend the next event. Thanks, and that’s all for now!
