Written by: Alvin Brown

If you operate a website long enough, then you’re likely to encounter a situation or circumstance that requires a redirect at some.

What are redirects, you ask?

Simply put, redirects are primarily used to preserve the SEO authority of a website page or an entire website.

And here’s why redirects are important:

You don’t want to lose invaluable SEO authority. You’ve slaved so many days writing and sharing content to be crowned by Google with page one search rankings, right?

It has been said that a “picture is worth a thousands words”.

You don’t have to look to far these days to guarantee that statement.

And from the looks of it, it appears that we as a society are moving more and more towards pictures telling the stories of our lives.

Or maybe we’re coming full circle with the use of modernized pictures from our primitive years.

Nevertheless, we’re not talking about just any ole’ pictures.  We’re talking about EMOJIS! Emojis can do now wrong and are on at this very moment, being used by all walks of life.

They’re the 💣, and have hit the 🎰  for sure this year!

Don’t believe me?  Just ask Forbes…

If you follow the latest domain happenings on Twitter, then you’ve likely seen the “Domain King”, Rick Schwartz, take to Twitter much like a fish to water.

Of course, Schwartz is not short on words by any stretch of the imagination.

He’s tweeting 🔥 at the top of each morning. Whether domain knowledge or business insight or a combination of both, he’s squeezing in as many gems as he can in 140 characters.

By time I rise, he’s likely 6-8 tweets into his day with not many minutes to spare in between. In fact, here’s a recent tweet:

Spam me Thursday! Post 1 domain, $5000 or less, @DomainKing Give me first refusal for 4 hours. Don’t post #PigeonShit or #gTLD‘s #Domains

— Rick Schwartz (@DomainKing) April 27, 2017

If you follow the tweet, then you’ll likely see that I submitted a domain name.

Excited about attending DNHouston today!

DNHouston Meetup
Written by: Alvin Brown

It’s 6 hours of road time (round trip) for me today as I leave Austin and head to attend DNHouston from 7pm -10pm.

It’ll be my first time attending DNHouston, which is hosted by Angela St. Julien and sponsored by Public Interest Registry.

All event proceeds being donated to the Heidi Powell defense fund. Owning my own domain name for quite some time, I too know how important protecting one’s brand is, especially when it involves domain names.

Nevertheless, a collective group will board a Houston Party Boat with a what looks to be a very informative night of sharing and networking accompanied with good food.

Angela has booked a solid group of speakers – Andee Hill, Victor Pitts, Kevin Kopas, and Bill Hartzer. I’m personally looking forward to meeting Bill Harzter. I frequently follow his site, blog and social media interactions, and I’m looking forward to hearing him speak as well as others.

It’ll be a grand ole’ time to meet and network with other industry professionals face to face. I’ll be sure to take plenty of pictures to share, and maybe even some video.

If you’re attending, then I’ll see you there…
