How to Reduce .ws Emoji Domain Renewal Costs.

A few weeks back, I questioned whether or not the emoji-domain Grinch was on the prowl and lurking to reclaim emoji domains due to substantially higher renewal costs.
Suppose you’re in the camp that registered one or many of the swelling 21,000+ .ws emoji domains through GoDaddy’s emoji domain search engine at $4.99 over the last year or so. In that case, you likely want to pay close attention to the renewal date and, more specifically, the renewal cost.
It’s been one month since I stumbled upon Ben’s tweet about his registered .ws emoji domains renewing at seven (7) times the original investment.
The the hell are my .ws emoji domains renewing for $34.99 each? Letting them all renew would cost $419.88…

And Ben’s not the only one noticing emoji domain renewals biting at their wallet or purse strings.
My emoji domains (including ❤ ✏.ws) are up for renewal. Problem is, they’ve TRIPLED in price since a year ago. What should I do?

And although an apples-to-oranges comparison, when compared to various new gTLD extension renewal pricing, .ws emoji domain renewal pricing remains reasonably priced at $34.99 (at the time of this writing).
As for apples-to-apples comparison, other extensions allowing emoji domains are competitively priced between $30-$50 per domain renewal.
Should you possess 5 or fewer emoji domains approaching renewal, then you may or may not blink an eye at the renewal fee (or you may, who knows).
But that’s certainly not the case with persons registering 5 or more emoji domains or multiple emoji domain renewals transacting on the same date.
Regardless of the extension chosen, owning multiple emoji domains is somewhat costly if you never considered substantial future price adjustments or expected GoDaddy’s renewal cost to remain the same.
But no need to fear, there are two specific actions worth considering when aiming to save on and reduce emoji domain renewal costs.
The first consideration, I spotted a tweet (thanks to My Emoji Domain for the tip) stating .ws emoji domains can be transferred and renewed at $22.99, a $12 savings on each emoji domain when renewing and transferring to Dynadot.com.
FYI … You can save approximately $12 on each Emoji Domain Renewal by Transfering them to https://t.co/RxgzkCsrFG … (their .ws Domain Transfer and Renewal Fees are $22.99)

Of course, it’s not GoDaddy’s original registration pricing of $4.99, but every little bit of savings counts, regardless of how many registered emoji domains you currently possess.
It’ll be interesting to see whether or not GoDaddy alters its emoji domain renewal pricing should a mass emoji domain exodus begin to favor Dynadot.com’s emoji domain pricing for renewals.
The second consideration, GoDaddy offers reduced emoji domain renewal pricing for accounts that have purchased their Discount Domain Club service (starting at $9.99 per month, billed annually).
GoDaddy’s Discount Domain Club does not only allow for reduced emoji domain renewal pricing, but the service also offers the following per their website:
- Lowest prices on new domains, transfers, and renewals – even pre-registration fees (up to 60% savings every single day with no minimum to buy)
- Earn money with CashParking Premium
- Bid, buy & sell as a GoDaddy Auctions (r) member
- Get the name you want with Domain Buy Service
I attempted to renew a .ws emoji domain and found the pricing to be $21.99 (using GoDaddy Discount Domain Club pricing), which is a $1.00 savings over Dynadot.com pricing.
One dollar may not seem like much savings at all for a handle of domains, but it does add up when owning tens, hundreds, or thousands of domains like Darryl Lopes.
Nevertheless, don’t let price be the only factor. Be sure to consider the possible headache and hassle of transferring and renewing domains between multiple accounts and vendors should you also own non-emoji domains.
Either way, these are two viable options for reducing and saving on emoji domain renewal costs. That’s all for now!
