Add to Cart and Advanced Search are Latest Features in GoDaddy Domain Investor App Update

It really is becoming Christmas in July, somewhat. The good news is GoDaddy recently released a long needed and awaited updated to its search and buy domains in bulk functionality.

The bad news is that our economy continues playing a deadly game of red-light, green-light with a pandemic of a lifetime: COVID-19. But for now, let’s focus on the good.

Nearly 7 months ago, I shared a review about how GoDaddy updated its domain investor app with functionality that was included but not limited too:

  • Basic searching
  • Filter and sorting
  • Add to Favorites
  • Add to Watchlist
  • Saved and recent searches

In addition, GoDaddy greatly modernized the app’s user interface and experience. Talk about a much needed and welcomed fresh breath of air.

But if you thought the last domain investor app update was something to write home about, today’s is surely going to make ya’ Zoom family back home.

In complete transparency, I had stopped using the GoDaddy app nearly a year ago. Why?

Well, for starters, I loathed adding domains to my watchlist from the desktop interface to simply bid from the mobile app.

Next, although I could view and bid on expired domains from the investor app, I was unable to search and buy closeout domains.

Back to the desktop I would have to go to watch a domain in the closing seconds and auction, and attempt to quickly purchase using the desktop interface.

In addition, I was unable to pay for the expired domain auctions I won using the app, so I finally gave up after all this back and forth between mobile and desktop experiences.

But TODAY, not only am I back and active in the app, but I’m ditching the desktop experience. Say whaaaaat!? Yup, I’m finally ditching the desktop experience in favorite of the mobile experience.

Well, truth be told, I’m not exactly ditching the desktop experience 100%, but it’ll likely be a 80% mobile and 20% desktop experience split. And you probably want to know why I’m excitedly jumping back to the mobile experience, right?

Well, here’s the short of the story besides watching the review video in its entirety. The latest release of the GoDaddy Domain Investor App now allows:

  • Filtering by Extension, Inventory Type, Character Length, With/out Hyphens and Digits
  • Inventory now includes Public Auctions, Close Outs and Buy it Now domains in addition to Expired Domains
  • Ability to purchase Won domains

Talk about one small step for domain investors, one giant leap for the domain industry. Okay, okay… it’s doesn’t match or top Armstrong’s actual quote, but who else has the same clout and reach as GoDaddy?

Go ahead, I’ll await… Exactly, no one for now. Now this doesn’t mean that it’ll always be this way. But for now, it is what it is, and this app has come a long way.

It hasn’t arrived completely yet, if ever.  There is more I would like to realize via mobile and desktop experiences, especially as it pertains to basic and advanced analytic reporting interfaces for one’s domain portfolio.

Can GoDaddy deliver again by or before Christmas? That’s the question of the hour.  Only time will tell…

For now, I’ll enjoy Christmas in July, and hope the party of GoDaddy gift giving is the gift that keeps delivering timely gifts.

Until the release of the next app update, happy mobile investing!
