Premium .com Domain Names: Rent, Lease, or Buy?

July 11, 2013 No Comments
Written by: Alvin Brown

There has been much talk about domain leasing services throughout much of this year as the world wide web anticipates the release of 1,900 or so new generic top-level domains (gTLDs).

In today’s post, I hope to shed a little light on the premium .com domain names and the various options you can take now in terms of renting, leasing, or buying.

No one knows the future of .com or gTLDs.

In my humble opinion, I think it is safe to say that .com will be around for years to come.

Rather than waiting on the new gTLD’s to be released, you’re better off taking action now to rent, lease, or buy a premium .com domain name for your business when given the option to.

Buying Website Traffic Is A Web of Deception

Buying website traffic can destroy your website's search engine rankings.

If you’ve ever launched a website or managed and operated a website, then you will totally understand how much of a challenge it is to increase website traffic.

Of course, traffic in general is easy to increase as you can buy Fiverr gigs, pay a freelance website link UpWork, buy automated traffic programs and the list goes on.

But the real question is how much of the traffic can you convert into sustainable and profitable business?

All too often, website owners are guilty of being impatient and putting in the time and effort it takes to truly garner traffic numbers worth writing home about.

And as each day passes, the sea of websites in the online space are growing at a rapid rate, drastically decreasing your chances of monopolizing eyeballs on your website.

Of course, the ole’ saying is, “there are plenty of fish in the sea.”

There may be many fish in the sea, but again, not all fish are worth eating nor drawing near your website.

In today’s post, I’ll discuss why it is imperative that you don’t buy website traffic from certain online sources.

In addition, I’ll explore the sea of options for buying website traffic and how doing so can negatively impact your organic search rankings.

July 4, 2013 No Comments
Written by: Alvin Brown

Domain type-in traffic could generate more customers and sales for your business.

Maybe you’ve heard or not heard of the mysterious power of domain type-in traffic.

Many claims have been made for and again domain type-in traffic.

Whether you have or have not, the beauty of domain type-in traffic is that domain type-in traffic is free.

Yes, free unlike any other search engine optimization and internet marketing.

And it goes without saying, SEO should not be neglected completely as SEO can act as a great mate to type-In traffic.

So briefly, domain type-in traffic is one of the most inexpensive search marketing options available for website owners seeking to increase website traffic, seeing you have the right resources and expertise to make it happen for your business.

The biggest questions I find myself faced with when considering buying expired domain names or hand registering domain names are are the domain names generic enough in nature to generate any type-in traffic or profitable traffic in general, and are type-in traffic domains worth owning?

And being totally transparent, I wish I could give you a straightforward answer of yes or no for those questions.

However, owning domains with type-in traffic that consistently generate increase web traffic, conversions and sales can be a hit or miss opportunity based upon the domain’s industry and keywords that make up the domain.

If you consider a new trend as generic or exact match domain names that might not produce traffic as much as traditional generic or exact match domain names produce.

That said, today’s post will try to help shed a little light on the pros and cons of using type-in traffic domains.

I set on my on quest to try and answer the type-in traffic domain question of whether or not type-in domains are worth owning or even considering as a method to increasing web traffic.

Practical SEO made easy for Small Business Owners

July 1, 2013 No Comments
Written by: Alvin Brown

Over the last 10 plus years, I’ve been on a winding course of Internet entrepreneurship that has lead me to crash and burn a number of times with various ideas and concepts.

From printing and graphic design to IT consulting and support to web design and development to designing and selling t-shirts to women’s boutique to disaster and emergency communications to non-profit and religious websites, I’ve done it all.

However, the one constant in all of the businesses mentioned above was my reliance on effective search engine rankings and search engine optimization (SEO).

Overall, the experience was phenomenal and chock full of life and business lessons that small business owners and professionals alike could learn and benefit.

From search penalties to de-indexation to stupid and costly mistakes to the mountain-top of page one ranking for hundreds of highly competitive keywords and cash registers converting and ringing nothing but profitable success, I’ve knowingly and unknowingly have experienced my fair share of search engine failures and successes.

Today, as a seasoned SEO consultant, I’m privileged to consult and coach a wide variety of customers and the question I receive the most from small business owners is, “Are there any SEO strategies and techniques that I can implement myself?”

Understanding that small business owners are typically short on time and money in some cases, I set out to create a simple and easy-to-use guide to help lead small business owners down the SEO path in achieving sustainable and profitable SEO results.

Series: SEO Audit Increases SEO Effectiveness

A series about increasing SEO effectiveness by having a consistent SEO audit performed.
Written by: Alvin Brown

Much like having your car’s oil changed or visiting a general physician each year to determine your health and well-being, it is recommended that your website receive an SEO audit. Why?

The easy answer is that an SEO audit is vital to help gauge and measure how effective or ineffective your search engine optimization strategies and efforts are for your website.

If certain SEO tools or methods were not consistently generating customer growth and revenue or keeping your from growing your business, wouldn’t you want to know about it?

Sure you would want to know about it.

Knowing about ineffective SEO efforts could save you time and money, and find another proven and sound internet marketing strategy and tool to invest in that will bring you results.

Although it is quite simple to push a SEO Audit to the back burner in sake of other bottom-line enhancing business activities, it’s actually worthwhile to take preventative SEO action versus reactive.

I can’t begin to tell you the number of times I’ve had customers frantically call or email me about lost or damaged search engine rankings.

Performing an SEO audit on the customer’s website, I discover a multitude of small SEO problems that have accumulated to gargantuan issues.

Sometimes these issues cause the customer’s website to be penalized or de-indexed from search engines altogether.

Other times it is loss of rankings without a penalty which takes less work to correct.

However, the common ground and conclusion for most of the issues and challenges I find is that they all could have been prevented or identified before harm was caused by performing a consistent SEO audit.

Personally, I perform monthly as well as quarterly checks on my own websites in addition to a variety of customer websites.

Thinking about the various issues I’ve encountered across a number of customer websites, I’ve developed a list of some top reasons to perform consistent SEO audits to increase and maintain website traffic and search engine rankings.

In today’s first of 3 series post, we’ll discuss two reasons you should strive to consistently perform SEO audits for your website.

  • Part One: SEO Audit Increases SEO Effectiveness
  • Part Two: SEO Audit Increases SEO Effectiveness
  • Part Three: SEO Audit Increases SEO Effectiveness
