Does your business’ domain name pass the radio test?

Can your potential customers remember your domain without misspelling it while hearing it via a television or radio ad?

If you’ve never considered the thought of whether or not your business’ domain passes the radio test, then today’s post will open you up to a world that is sure to change your perspective on the importance of using domain names passing the radio test.

Most business owners don’t know whether to consider the radio test when selecting a domain name.

In fact, most business owners consider their business name and domain based on emotional ties.

Others often consider a domain name based on registration availability.

There are a multitude of ways that domain names are conceived.

However, the radio test is rarely, if ever, applied to most domain name selections.

Now you may be thinking, “How does a domain name passing a radio test impact my business?  Well, I’m glad you asked.

Friday’s Bag Ole’ Domains 4/8/2016

As usual, the domains below are in their closeout or buy now price, and likely to drop catch or deleted should they not be purchased.

Although I don’t provide much commentary on the domains selected for Friday’s Bag Ole’ Domains, the names I select are based on being good domains to brand as your business or simply a business-in-a-box type of a domain.

The selected domains only have hours to be purchased in some cases, so don’t think you’ll be able to wait forever and a day to purchase.

It’s Friday and I overslept, hitting that snooze button countless times. Who am I kidding? It was well worth it! 😀

I’ve got a busy day ahead of me with many meetings, so I doubt I’ll get a chance to bid on much today, if any.

There’s quite a bit of domains to bid on today. I’ve assembled the largest list of numeric domain auctions ending today since starting the daily auction list. And every last one of them has bids.

My sinus infection is dissipating, leaving behind a slight cough. At least I no longer have a sore throat. I’ll live another day, Lord willing. 🙂

A few weeks back, I told you all that I had a big announcement to share. Well, it wheels and entire train came off the track and the project got put on hold indefinitely.

So, no announcement. Let me rephrase that to say that the announcement may come, but at a way later date than expected.

Oh well, we win some and lose some. When one door closes, there is another door soon to open, if not already open.

The Supply and Demand of Local Domain Names

I want to share a few thoughts with you about an experience I had in auction a few weeks back.

I’ve been consistently engaged with a countless number of expiring domain auctions for nearly 4 years.

Day in and day out, I engage or watch at least a good 200-300 expired domain name auctions of the nearly 100K that expire daily.

There are quite a few GoDaddy expiring domain auctions on a daily.

I’m quite surprised at the number of geo domains that pass through the expiring auction gauntlet without a bid, and then those that pass without being purchased as a buy it now or closeout domain.

I mention geo domains, yet I want to speak directly about the geo keyword domains.

I’ve written a quite a few articles on geo and geo keyword domains as a primary digital presence.

However, today is somewhat different based on my last auction experience.

I won’t go into the financial side of this expired domain auction purchase as it may impact the future sale of this asset.

But I digress…So, where was I at?

Domain Auctions Ending 4/6/2016

I’ve been under the weather a bit this week with a sinus infection. The oak pollen and mold here in Austin is off the charts. Then again, it also doesn’t help with lawns being mowed and trees being pruned. Nevertheless, I’ll surprise.

In the news this week, I received a newsletter from Giuseppe Graziano entitled, “Is The Domain Market falling? I went to China to find out…”

Giuseppe discovers the various perspectives around the Chinese economic slowdown, and how those perspectives impact both real estate and stock markets.

Domain Auctions Ending 4/5/2016

Not much to talk about today, but that probably has to do more with me than anything else.

I’ve been a bit under the weather with a sinus infection due to all the changes in this unpredictable Texas weather. We’ve had 20 degree swings in both directions over the last 14 days or so, and more to come in the coming days.

As for the domain industry, it’s safe to say the Chinese market for domain investing and the domain market in general is undergoing a market correction. Although more inquiries and requests are coming in, the amounts are getting lower.
