Many domain investors learn to effectively manage their domain portfolios by trial and error.
I can tell you from experience that this method of domain portfolio management can get quite expensive to say the least.
However, I wisened up from my days of reckless domain portfolio management thanks to help from a few seasoned domain investors. Continue reading
It’s not everyday I stumble upon a business or personal brand actively growing their business through the use of new top-level domains (new gTLDs).
When I do, I find most business or personal brands are simply experimenting with such domains with no sign of commitment or results.
However, I recently stumbled upon a LinkedIn post containing a video promoting an Energy Management Consultancy based here in Austin, Texas. Continue reading
When I started my journey podcasting, I knew not one thing about podcasting. I had no clue how to prepare for a podcast, how to find guests, how to achieve an optimal mix, how to record a podcast, or how to host a podcast.
Thank goodness technology has come a long way from the days of having to invest tens of thousands of dollars in the latest equipment to record and host audio and video files on a server and having to custom development a player to support playback.
Imagine how excited I was to discover how easy it was to record a podcast using Voice Memos app when flying solo, and then Zoom.us or Skype when virtually interviewing parties of one or more.
Then, add in a user-friendly hosting service like Podbean — podcast publishing and monetization service, providing free and premium hosting packages for individuals and businesses — that fully integrates publishing, management, syndication, and analysis tools. Continue reading
Attempting to figure out the best price for a domain name or portfolio is quite comparable to trying to find a needle in a haystack.
Most domain investors are often blinded by domain sales anomalies produced by the bigger personalities of the domain industry — Schillings, Berkens, Schwartzs, and Roseners.
And if not jaded by domain legends, then most domain buyers and sellers often try to hang their hat on the tree of domain appraisals as just and fair pricing.
This couldn’t be further from the truth as you’ll soon learn when listening to my latest podcast episode: 10 Tactics to Determine Best Price for Domains. Continue reading
It’s crazy to realize the Internet is a little over 30 years old. Although I date myself when saying I remember life before the Internet and email, the invention of the Internet has forever transfigured how we live life and do business.
In some ways, the Internet has brought us together. In other ways, not so much. Continue reading
There’s nothing like discovering a domain name you’ve long to own is up for sale, and even better when it’s not renewed and in expired domain auction.
In the case of the latter, tens of thousands of domains expire in auction daily. There are quite a few expired domain aftermarket platforms for domain investors, hobbyists, and businesses to bid on expiring domains.
But sometimes the domain a given person desires is actively registered and used by someone. In fact, I’ve discovered many domains I long to own for Kickstart Commerce and other businesses I operate to be registered and not being used or websites no longer being updated.
In many cases, if I’m unable to reach or work out a deal with the registered owner of the given domain, then I often hatch the next move in my plan to assume ownership of the domain: backordering. Continue reading
No sooner than a person is introduced to domain investing, affectionately known as “domaining” by domain investors as known as “domainers”, that they soon encounter the ramifications of legally transacting payment and agreement of domains.
Most new investors, a few old ones too, blindly play the payment roulette game when using PayPal or a non-secure payment method when transacting payment and agreement of domains.
Individuals soon come to find out they robbed themselves blind from receiving payment as well as losing their domain in the most horrific cases due to payment clawback, chargeback or disputed credit card payment by purchaser. Continue reading
