I expected this week to be somewhat quiet with Christmas now a thought of the past.  Things have been quiet on a personal front although it’s been a week of weather woes for those of us living in Texas, primarily West and North Texas areas.

Here in Austin, I found myself pelted the other night by hail that came out of nowhere as I was trying to figure out why my tire wasn’t keeping air in it.  Good ole’ Texas weather for ya.

I never figured the exact cause of loss air in the tire, so I took it to the professionals at DiscountTire.com.  And guess what?  They couldn’t figure it out either.  Oh well, I had them rotate and replace the valve stems.  We’ll see how this holds up for now.

In domaining news, the short 3, 4, 5, and now 6 character .com domains keep racking in more sales.  I’m still baffled by all of this market entry and shift.  I just wonder how long this can continue, yet remain profitable.

I’ve participated and won a few domains, making sure to not get into any $5 and $10 bidding wars for expired domain auctions. I’ve been quite happy with my selection, and even more surprised by the inquiries that are rolling in as they now transfer to my account.

Welcome back.  It’s Monday and time to get back on the grind.

I really don’t expect to much shaking and baking to happen this week as it pertains to domain names.  Then again, one never knows.  This week, the last week of the year, could prove to be record breaking.

Not much going on in terms of GoDaddy auctions, although I tend not to list NameJet, SnapNames and Flippa auctions.  But there are more than enough names to go around.  China is still buying 3, 4 and 5 character domains, both .com and .net.  With that, let’s take a look at today’s auction.

Morning. It’s the day after Christmas, and I’m well rested.  I didn’t participate in any auctions yesterday, so I’m not certain on what happened.  My family and I have had a wonderful Christmas and I hope you and yours have should you celebrate Christmas and the birth of Christ.

With it being Saturday, I’m certain all stores will be busy with gift card purchases and returns today.  I’m so thankful to not be in retail with rush and long hours during this month.

Personally, I plan on spending more time with my wife and boys today, hoping for more good Christmas weather to allow the boys to ride bikes and play with an assortment of outdoor gifts received.  We’re due for a thunderstorm today.  This could lower temperatures from about above average weather of 70-80 degrees as of late.

Well, there are decent names with auctions ending today, so let’s take a look.

As for me, I’m spending Christmas wearing shorts and flip flops here in Austin, Texas with a superb 80-degree day.  Yes, 80 degrees in Texas for Christmas.  Who knew.

As for today’s domain auctions, I’ve spent quite a bit of time hand picking special .com domains to gift you with this day.  I have domains that are nearly 20 years of age that someone is letting expire.

However, most domains selected today average around 8-10 years of age.  No matter what, there’s enough opportunity to make money and invest in decent domains.

Well, I guess hundreds of thousands of people, if not millions, will hit the road to travel for Christmas, or head out to the malls for those last minute Christmas gifts.

My wife let me off easy this year and told I’m only responsible for stock stuffers.  YES, a blessed man I am!  And if that’s not enough blessing, we’re on schedule to have a near 80-degree Christmas here in Austin, Texas.  I guess Jack Frost got his directions mixed up this year, and I truly appreciate it and having Christmas in a polo, shorts and flip flops.

It looks like a handful of domains arrive as early Christmas gifts with today’s auction.  There are some old, yet good domains to bid on today.  With that, let’s review today’s domain auctions.

Seems like domain auctions are now the breeding ground for high stake bidding on 3 and 4 character domain names.  To see such domains with 3 and 4 figure pricing days before their auction, it’s quite amazing.

I’m left wondering how long will this run last.  Is it a short term run or can we expect to see this type of activity for next 12 months?  I think this is only the beginning and other markets beside China will jump in, taking the industry  beyond the moon in domain pricing.  Only time will tell.  I own a handful of 3 and 4 character .com domains, and all are receiving quite a bit of daily inquiry traffic.  So much so that I’m ignoring inquiries that are below $2K in value.

In addition, I’ve been attempting to secure a few 5 and 6 digit .com domain names in recent auctions.  I’ve included a few numeric domains in today’s auction list.

Only a few days until Christmas and I’ve not even given thought to gifts.  I guess I better get my rear end into gear and brave the crowds for all of the gifts cards I’ll purchase.

As for the domain market, there’s a lot of moving and shaking going on and more to come in the next 12 months should China have any say so.

3, 4 and 5 character .com and .net domains are bringing early Christmas cheer and monetary rewards to both buyers and sellers. Even Rick Schwartz has come out of retirement to grace us with a few Christmas posts this season.
