How-To Guide Optimization Ranking Search Engine Marketing

Duplicate content is NOT the answer to increase search engine rankings

April 30, 2013 2 Comments
Duplicate content penalties are not worth it.
Written by: Alvin Brown

Content is King in the online world, or is it?

If your website has duplicate content, then you are losing the war to competitors as well as missing out on generating greater customer growth and revenue.

Search engine optimization has evolved over many years and will continue to do so in the years to come.

Before the introduction to a plethora of search engine algorithms and their multi-dimensional complexities, it was quite easy to stake your businesses claim to the front page of all major search engines for your respective industry.

There are many advanced SEO techniques that an average person wouldn’t see or ever comprehend when viewing a webpage that can be considered illegal or deceptive SEO.

From shady link building schemes to paid links to keyword stuffing to link stuffing to plagiarizing a competitor’s original content, there were and still are today many ways, some honest while many are deceitful, to arrive at the front page of all major search engines.

In today’s post, we hope to address the Content is King mentality of those businesses operating in gray-hat SEO, whether knowingly or unknowingly.

Today’s focus is publishing duplicate content in an effort to rank higher on the first page search engine results of all major search engines.

6 questions to ask when creating website content

January 8, 2016 No Comments
Written by: Alvin Brown

I’m often questioned about what steps and process to take to rank website content in a search-safe manner.

Most of the time, the question is based around how long should it take for a page or website content to rank in search results.

Often times it’s about how many times a keyword or keyword phrase should be used (i.e., keyword density). While other times it’s about how many internal and external links a page should contain.

Well today, I’m sharing 6 valuable questions to ask when creating epic website content.

Why Using Subdomains Boosts Search Rankings and Targeted Traffic

June 17, 2014 No Comments

Subdomains have been around for a long time, but it’s only quite recently that internet marketers learned how invaluable they can be. In fact, there had been a time when using subdomains were thought to be ultimately bad for SEO.

However, with search engines constantly changes with every cat, dog and bird update, many small business owners and internet marketers are clamoring at anything that can even remotely increase views and ranking.

This has given birth to loads of white-hat, grey-hat and black-hat SEO marketing tactics.

One of those marketing tactics used by many to boost their rankings is using subdomains.

Once considered gray-hat, making use of subdomains for the sole purpose of manipulating search rankings for specific keyword or keyword phrases is now considered black-hat SEO.

But don’t lose hope just yet as subdomains can be ethically and effectively used via white-hat SEO tactics and strategies.

Don’t believe me? Just check out such sites as Tumblr, Blogspot, WordPress and Shopify to name a few.

These are popular mainstream websites that offer services that allow for users to create their very own websites using subdomains instead of subdirectories.

So to take a step back before we venture to far down the path of subdomain SEO. Let’s take a moment to define domains, subdomains and subdirectories.

Do search engine penalties expire?

June 11, 2014 No Comments
Written by: Alvin Brown

Fixing search engine penaltiesThe short answer is “yes” and “no”.  I know, confusing right?

Search engine penalties can expire after a certain time period.

However, a search engine penalty expiring depends upon many factors.

The following factors can determine whether or not search engine penalties expire:

  • Whether corrective action has been taken to remedy penalty
  • Whether the website is deleted or domain name expires
  • If the website continues to garner additional penalties
  • If no corrective action is taken or performed to the website

And this leads us to discussing one of my current customers and their search engine penalty saga.
